IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF BAAL
A 470-kilometre walk through Lebanon, from end to end.
In 2016, I spent 28 days walking the length of Lebanon shortly before I left the country after a 20-year stay.
That journey is no longer possible in its entirety in 2026 as a result of Israel’s re-occuption and continued destruction of southern Lebanon’s cultural, historical, religious and ecological inheritance.
In the Footsteps of Ba’al grew out of that journey. Part love-letter, part memoir, it is a record of the places, people and stories I encountered along the way.
A slow travel portrait, it explores the country’s diverse landscapes, towns and villages through the layers of history and culture that have made Lebanon one of the most fascinating places in the world.
